Industry news

Pentakill Studios announces its rebranding as DALOAR, a new identity that we could find in the new cinematic trailer of The Occultist a few days later. The single-player horror adventure is coming next year to PC and consoles from Daedalic Entertainment.

The Occultist follows researcher Alan Rebels on his journey to the mysterious Godstone Island, where a macabre cult conducted disturbing rituals and experiments many years ago. No one except Alan’s father has set foot on the island since, and he disappeared without a trace. With the help of his paranormal talents and his mystical pendulum, Alan is determined to find him no matter the risks.

DALOAR is not the only team to announce major changes this week. Noxfall Studios, developers of Nordic Ashes, have also unveiled their new logo.

Tesura Games has just launched its new digital store in English, where players from all over the world will be able to purchase its physical editions and merchandising. This is great news for the Spanish game studios that have worked closely with the distributor, as it will make it easier for their creations to reach many more people.

Tesura Store is open worldwide.

Other news / Games released this week

We’re finally able to explore the beautiful world created by Inverge Studios and Chibig in Creatures of Ava, their new sandbox adventure in outer space. The game blends platforming, puzzles and creature collecting features to create a beautiful experience where saving the planet means everything. Explore each ecosystem, learn everything about it and defend this natural paradise from those who want to exploit it.

The Game Kitchen and Team 17 unveil an enigmatic teaser foreshadowing a DLC for Blasphemous II. This potential expansion would arrive, according to the video, this Fall.

Blasphemous 2 is a metroidvania game released in August 2023, following the journey of the Penitent One in his eternal struggle against The Miracle. Its fictional universe is largely inspired by the Catholic religion, and draws many elements from the Andalusian in which the creators of the game were raised from childhood.

One button is all it takes to crush your enemies in this nerve-wracking bullet hell game! One BTN Bosses, by Midnight Munchies, is one of the first bets of the newly created publisher Outersloth. But there’s more to it than just an addictive gameplay ― through its 50 hand-crafted levels, you’ll help Ace The Assistant defeat his evil boss. Who’d expect a fight against labour exploitation in such a game?!

A new medieval fantasy game arrived on Steam this week! Sharpen your steel and get your armor ready for the epic battles awaiting for you in Chronicles of Sagrea, a game by solo dev Luis Cobo. Choose between three characters to start your adventure: Kholdir the barbarian, Zeira the Amazon or Sir Edric the knight, each with their own characteristics, specialized in particular types of weapons and having different attack combos. If you want to give it a try, there’s a free demo on Steam!

«The light came… and everything started all over again». Under The Bed Games posted this enigmatic phrase on X along with a short video to introduce their next game. The project is titled Piercing Light, although this may not be its final name. The lighthouse surrounded by an intense storm makes us think of a Lovecraftian setting. Do you think we got it right?

And so we reach the end of today’s update. Our next newsletter is coming on August 30, remember to subscribe to our mailing list to receive our monthly recaps. Also, keep in touch with us via social media – you’ll find us on Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube.

See you next week!
