Games From Spain News Recap: 13-20 December, 2024

Welcome back, regulars and visitors!

Christmas is almost upon us, but the truth is that Santa brought us our presents in advance — such a nice gentleman, don’t you think? Last week, Nomada Studio won their second-ever Games for Impact award at Geoff Keighley’s Game Awards 2024. Last night,  they succeeded again with Neva at The Indie Game Awards organized by IGN, achieving recognition for its Emotional Impact. This search for a deep and personal connection with players is an essential part of Nomada Studio. And it’s beautiful to see it appreciated worldwide.

But it won’t be fair to only treat the winners. Being nominated for one of the most important awards in the industry is a success in itself, so we want to congratulate the following teams:

Both games are now 40% OFF thanks to Steam Winter Sale, so please give them a chance! If you do, remember to share your thoughts and best moments with us on social media.

There’s one more thing to announce before we move on, it’s related to the format of our News Roundup. Starting next month, we’ll share all new updates on a calendar week basis rather than Friday to Friday. Any relevant news announced during the weekend will be included in its corresponding entry at a later date. We hope you find these modifications as practical as we do. Now, let’s take a look at the news and releases of the week!

Indie developer Lucky Cat announced the release date of her first dating sim RPG The Silent Kingdom, arriving in February 2025 as an Early Access game. Perhaps even destroying her own heart along the way. Try its latest demo on Steam for free!

Sword of the Necromancer “resurrects” in a new remake

Next month, we’ll receive a pleasant surprise with the comeback of the ARPG Sword of the Necromancer, by Grimorio of Games, now as a 3D remake with new graphics and gameplay mechanics. Once again, we’ll meet a Tama eager to save Koko from the claws of Death. Exploring a dangerous dungeon and reaching its depths will be key to bring her back. Fortunately, he’ll count on the forbidden powers of the Sword of the Necromancer to turn his enemies into the most ferocious allies. Expect it on January 23, 2025!

EP Games releases Oppidum in 2025

A new multiplayer survival game named Oppidum will arrive on Steam in Q1 2025. It’s being developed and autopublished by the Spanish studio EP Games, creators of the tower defense game Queendoom. This time, you’ll be summoned to save the land of Insule from an unknown evil that is corrupting it all. Explore a magic world, discover every resource it has to offer and collect it to craft your equipment in classic survival-crafting fashion. If the burden is too heavy for you, the game allows you to share it with up to 3 friends in co-op mode.
