Welcome back, regulars and visitors:
As we told you last week, things are heating up in the Spanish games industry! This week brings a highly anticipated release and other amazing indie games you can’t miss, each with its own unique essence. We also bring exciting news related to crowdfunding campaigns already in progress — as always, we encourage you to support small creators in this difficult path that is game development.
Let’s get started!
Indie Dev Day, the biggest industry event for independent developers in Southern Europe, will be back in 2025! This new edition will be held a little later than we are used to, from October 10 to 12, 2025. It will take place, as always, at the La Farga shopping center in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona). Last year, this beloved event managed to bring in outstanding professionals such as Diego Mayorga (Halberd Studios), Elena Statsenko (Larian) and Kenney. What new guests will they surprise us with this time?
A new industry event arrives in Bilbao (Basque Country) next month. On February 25, Gaming Euskadi will bring together game companies and professionals from all over Spain. Entrance is free and tickets are now on sale, although the program has not been detailed yet.
The Stone of Madness (The Game Kitchen, Tripwire Interactive)
Who doesn’t know the legendary Sevillian studio behind Blasphemous, now in charge of a new installment of the Ninja Gaiden series? The Game Kitchen returns with The Stone of Madness, an isometric stealth game set in an 18th-century monastery. This formerly a place of worship, located in the Pyrenees, was converted into a macabre sanatorium where abuse of the mentally ill is a daily occurrence. Players will control five of these patients, named Agnes, Leonora, Eduardo, Amelia, and Alfredo, and use their unique skills to help them escape forever.
For the curious, The Stone of Madness has its origin in a pictorial work of similar name that was created by Bosch. It can currently be seen at the Prado Museum in Madrid (Spain).
The Zebra-Man! (Zerouno Games, Thunder Zebra)
Paint it red! This top-down shooter will delight fans of Hotline Miami in terms of aesthetic, gameplay and plot. Our protagonist will be trapped in a secret facility, as he’s been victim to a group of crazy scientists, and his only chance to escape will be to serve a mysterious raccoon-headed man. He will ask you to find and kill someone called Alexander Cooper. Who is he and why does he deserve to die? Perhaps you shouldn’t care… For now, get ready to face hordes of dangerous enemies and put your life on the line. Unleash your inner animal to survive, or die trying.
Little Lighthouse of Horror (Codiwans)
A mystery awaits to be solved on the Flannan Islands, though you may not want to sacrifice your sanity to find out what’s behind it… Playing as Laurence, manage a remote lighthouse, handle limited resources and confront eerie occurrences as isolation erodes your judgment. The longer you last, the closer you’ll be to the truth. Don’t miss this 2D adventure if you enjoy cosmic horror stories.
Basureroes: Invasion (Javs Game Studios, JanduSoft)
It’s your turn to save the Earth from a dangerous race of alien invaders! Fight against them and thwart Dr. Diogenes’ plans with the help of the Basureroes, a group of heroes with special powers. Run, jump and fight your way through twenty 2D levels full of danger and epic boss fights.
ILA: A Frosty Glide (Magic Rain Studio)
ILA: A Frosty Glide is a beautiful coming-of-age story starring a witch who explores the world in search of her lost cat, Coco. Guided by her dreams and the memories of her mother, Ila sets off on a heartfelt journey, flying across snow-covered landscapes and soaring through the skies on her magic skatebroom.
ILA has recently surpassed its goal on Kickstarter thanks to 213 backers. There’re still 28 days left in the campaign and we can’t wait to find out what extras the game will bring when they reach certain stretch goals. For now, a Nintendo Switch port has been secured!
And that’s all for today, folks! Remember to subscribe to our mailing list to receive our monthly recaps. The latest one will arrive on your inboxes later today. Also, keep in touch with us via social media – you’ll find us on Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube. See you next week, happy gaming!
